Gordon Ning Liu received the B.S.E.E. degree from the Southeast University, Nanjing, China, and the Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is a Distinguished Professor with the School of Electronic and Information Engineering of Soochow University in China. He is IEEE senior member, and has more than 20 years’ experience in optical communications. Before joining Soochow University, he was the deputy director of Optical Communication Technology Lab, Huawei France Research Center. He has also been the manager of optical modules/devices technical planning at HiSilicon OptoElectronics, Huawei and the leader of metro transmission research team at Transmission Research Department, Huawei. His recent research centers on systems, algorithms and devices for the optical interconnect, short range transmission and optical switching. He has accomplished a Chinese National 863 Project as the principal investigator. He has served or is serving in the technical program committees as subcommittee chair or member of various reputed conferences such as ECOC and OECC. He has published more than 60 papers in top journals and conferences, one English chapter and one Chinese chapter in academic books, and filed more than 20 patents.
