专家简介：Bruce Applebaum，男，美国国务院英语语言学者，2012年9月至今受邀执教18新利体育 。美国波士顿人，获得TESOL硕士学位，1999-2009年在日本、韩国、印度尼西亚和阿拉伯联合酋长国等亚洲和中东国家从事英语教学，2010-2012年执教北京师范大学。自去年秋季以来开设全校开放性“美国历史与文化系列讲座”，第一场关于美国总统大选。

讲座内容简介：The Cold War between the United States and the former Soviet Union started at the end of the 1940’s and continued until the 1989 with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the emergence of a new Russia.  In between there were wars, spies and witch hunts.     This lecture will examine this important part of American history.  It will look at the causes of the cold war, proxy wars fought between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, its impact on U.S. politics and what caused the Soviet Union to finally collapse under its own weight.    The lecture will involve participants in discussion and debate.  It will invite them to draw their own conclusions about what impact the Cold War has had on the new century.
