The Soochow University School of Music is seeking an experienced orchestral conductor and dedicated pedagogue to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Starting date:  August 15, 2016

The successful candidate will help to establish and develop the University Symphony Orchestra and oversee the University orchestral activities; conduct the University Symphony Orchestra and teach conducting.  Additional teaching duties may include collaborating in performance with faculty members and ensembles and teaching courses relevant to departmental needs and the candidate’s specialties. Candidates with experience in choral conducting are desirable.

Qualifications:  A graduate degree in Orchestral Conducting is required or equivalent professional experience. The candidate must demonstrate the potential for a national and international reputation while at Soochow University. Candidates with prior university teaching and orchestral conducting experience are preferred.
