The Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM) at Soochow University seeks outstanding candidates to fill Full Professor (Principal Investigator) positions. Applications in all areas of nano science and technology are of interest including, but not limited to:

Ÿ           Functional nanomaterials and devices;

Ÿ           Organic optoelectronic materials and devices;

Ÿ           Optical science and engineering;

Ÿ           Surface and interface science

Ÿ           Nano-biotechnology and nanomedicine;

Ÿ           Novel characterization techniques and instrumentations

Ÿ           Materials simulation and design, multiscale modeling and high-performance computing.

Qualifications:

Ÿ           A PhD or equivalent degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, Biology, Bioengineering, or other relevant disciplines;

Ÿ           An outstanding science and engineering background and exceptional research accomplishment equivalent to or higher than that of a “1000 Young Talent”;

Ÿ           Ability to conduct advanced, innovative, and collaborative research with a unique research focus;

Ÿ           Fluent in English.

FUNSOM was founded at Soochow University in 2008, and is being led by the founding director Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Institute includes a provincial key lab: the Jiangsu Key Laboratory for Carbon-Based Functional Materials and Devices.  To date FUNSOM has received over 330M RMB ($55M) in competitive National funding from NSFC, 863, 973, and other National agencies. At present there are 33 principal investigators, conducting interdisciplinary, dynamic and innovative research in the areas of new energy, biotechnology, green environment, and informatic electronics. Over 700 publications in high-impact journals have been published since 2009.
