Dr. Xiao-Kang Li is currently a Chief of the Laboratory of the Transplantation Immunology, National Research Institute for Child Health & Development in Japan. His main research focus is in the area of immunobiology of regulatory T cells, dendritic cells during immune response to autoantigens and transplantation antigens utilization an integrated basic, clinical and translational approach. His efforts also have focused on understanding the basic processes that control T cell activation and tolerance. He proposed several new approaches for Treg cell-based immunotherapy and gene therapy in transplant rejection. He has published more than 150 original articles in peer-reviewed SCI-cited international journals including Am J Transplant, Transplantation, Mol Ther, Gene Ther, Hepatology, J Lab Clin Med, J Gene Med, Mol.Cell.Biol. Transpl Immunol, BBRC, J Pharmacol Exp Ther etc. He is the editorial board member of International Immunopharmacology Journal Hypotheses and Research. He received the International Young Investigator Award and Biotest-ESOT-Research Award in 1996.
