Welcome to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at the Dushu Lake campus of Soochow University.

The department currently has 20-some faculty. We are an enthusiastic community of researchers dedicated to providing a rich educational environment for our undergraduates and graduate students, while keeping our biomedical research at high levels of excellence.

Major areas of research in the department include tumor metastasis, tumor immunology, comparative genomics, glycobiology, lipid biochemistry and metabolism, biophysics of membrane and membrane proteins, biochemistry of catalase and lipase, molecular mechanism of radiation damage, photosynthesis, nanotoxicology, and toxicity of rare earths and related compounds.  Multidisciplinary approaches are being applied in these research areas, which provide graduate students with numerous opportunities to obtain a versatile training in modern biochemistry and molecular biology. Among the agencies that provide research support to the Department are National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China, departments of science and technology of Jiangsu province and Suzhou, as well as industrial firms.
