The department of Pathology and department of Pathophysiology of Soochow University, founded in 1950s, jointed together in July 2008 and was renamed as the department of Pathology and Pathophysiology. Currently, the department has 1 professor, 12 associate professors, 3 lecturers, and 1 assistant research fellow, all with either the doctor or the master degree title.
The department is responsible to both education and research tasks including the curriculum courses for the undergraduates and graduate students as well as students of continuing education program. The major research fields for the graduate programs and doctoral training are molecular pathology of cancer and nongenomic pathway of sex hormones. Many of these research programs are supported by national natural science foundation and provincial natural science foundation. Some awards have been achieved including the provincial science and technology progress award, provincial teaching achievement award, and municipal science and technology progress award.
However, to ensure fair competition, the department of pathology and pathophysiology will continue to strive forward in the new era, taking “Vigorousness, Erudition and Expertise, Creation and Devotion” as the guiding principle, working even harder for a more brilliant future.
