There are 15 teachers in the Department of Biological Sciences (3 professor, 9 associate professors and 3 lectures). Among them, one is the doctoral supervisor and ten is the master instructor.

The teaching undertaken in the department is for the undergraduate students whose specialties are Biological Sciences, Biotechnology and Applied Biology, as well as graduate students with the subjects of Biology, Bionomy and Farming.

The scientific researches carried out in the department involve plant gene engineering, plant physiology, neurobiology, free radical biology, animal physiology and biochemistry, landscape water body restoration, industrial and environmental microbiology, and environmental remediation.

There are more than 15 projects carried out in the department in recent 5 years, including 4 projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. More than 20 articles (indexed by SCI and EI) are published in the international journals, and approximate 100 articles are appeared in Chinese Science Citation Database. In addition, more than 10 patents are authorized by State Intellectual Property Office of P. R. China.

The Department of Biological Sciences tries to provide high quality teaching to students, and at the same time to undertake more researches on Biology and Bionomy in the future.
