The Department of Physiology and Neurobiology at the Medical College of Soochow University is dedicated to quality in research, graduate and postdoctoral training and medical education. Physiology in this department is the study of how the body works. The systems of the body ― including the cardiovascular, respiratory, neural, endocrine, gastrointestinal and reproductive systems ― are examined using approaches ranging from molecular and cellular to whole-organism levels. Neurobiology in this department is the study of is Systems Neurobiology, Cellular Neurobiology and Molecular Neurobiology, focusing on the central nervous system synaptic plasticity. The research interests of our faculty are broadly based, with strong programs in cardiovascular, physiological genomics, proteomics and neurophysiology. The research programs in this department are multidisciplinary in nature and our program has strong associations with researchers of other basic science and clinical departments.

There is a long history of quality graduate education in the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology at the Medical College of Soochow University. The department offers two main graduate courses of physiology and neuroscience, has established good relations of cooperation with some famous scholars or labs to carry out academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation, joint training of the postgraduates, and make the academic research direction of our disciplines always been at the international forefront. In the present time, our graduates are successful scientists in universities, pharmaceutical companies and government.
