Department of Food Quality and Safety (DFQS) has a faculty of 14, including 2 professors, 9 associate professors, and 2 lecturers; among them one is doctoral tutor, eight are master tutors, one is sponsored by Qing Lan Project of Jiangsu province, and one is sponsored by Six Talent Peak Project of Jiangsu province. Every year, DFQS can attract approximately 30 graduates of high school all over China through the National College Entrance Examination. Up to Sep. 2014, there are 134 registered students studing in DFQS.
DFQS faculty teach major courses of food safety and quality. In the past 5 years, DFQS has implemented 5 teaching reform projects, published more than 10 papers in taching reform, and directed more than 10 Undergraduate Scientific and Technological Innovation Projects. As a result of which, some undergraduates published papers in journals and some invent patents.
DFQS faculty conduct research in fields of aquatic products safety production, water environmental pollution control, and food processing quality control. DFQS had established two key laboratores of aquatic animal nutrition and loach genetic breeding of Jiangsu province. In recent 5 years, DFQS members had undertaken nearly 100 research projects with approximately 2 millions research funds every year, published more than 100 papers in SCI-cited journals or Beitu core journals, and invented more than 20 patents, obtained more than 10 awards in provincial as well as city level.
