Workshop of Synchrotron Based X-ray Spectroscopies on Energy Materials took place on November 15-17, 2016 on the Dushu Lake Campus of Soochow University.
Co-organized by the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM) and Soochow University-Western University Center for Synchrotron Radiation Research, the workshop was attended by more than 60 delegates, including several beamline scientists from the Taiwan Photon Sourse (TPS), and several scientists from the Tamkang University and Kaohsiung University. Scientists from Canada, USA, Italy and various institutes in China have attended this workshop.
Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee, Director of FUNSOM, provided welcome remarks at the beginning of the workshop.
The workshop was divided into two parts, the first consisted of academic reports with a total of 28 oral presentations mainly focusing on the latest developments in synchrotron radiation techniques and the applications in energy-related fields. The second part consisted of group discussion and gave everyone the chance to exchange ideas, get to know each other and open channels of communication to promote cooperation and the extension of collaborations in the near future.
The success of this workshop greatly strengthens the connection between members in FUNSOM and TPS, and improves the Center’s influence in the area of synchrotron radiation research.
