On March 25, 2019, the 28th Annual Meeting of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) was held at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., in which an induction ceremony was taking place to recognize all the new AIMBE Fellows. Prof. Zhuang Liu, has been elected as a Fellow of AIMBE in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of innovative biomaterials and nanotechnology for cancer theranostics and next-generation cancer immunotherapy. Congratulations to Prof. Liu!

Dr. Liu’s short biography:

Dr. Liu received his BS degree from Peking University in 2004 and PhD degree from Stanford University in 2008. In 2009, he joined Institute Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM) as full professor at Soochow University. Dr. Liu’s research in the past few years was mostly focused on the development of functional nanomaterials including carbon nanomaterials, upconversion nanoparticles, organic nanomaterials, protein-based carriers, and other multifunctional composite nanostructures, for the exploration of novel disease diagnostic and cancer therapeutic approaches. Starting from 2005, Dr. Liu has authored over 270 peer-reviewed papers, which have received a total citation of > 43,000 times and given him an H-index at 105. He was listed as one of the ‘Highly Cited Researchers (Chemistry, Materials)’ by Clarivate Analytics (Thomson Reuters) from 2015. He has been invited to be the Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2015, and elected to be the Fellow of the American Institute for Biological and Medical Engineering (AIBME) in 2019. The awards he received include the Periodic Table of Younger Chemists by IUPAC, Biomaterials Science Lectureship by RSC, National Distinguished Young Scholar Award (Fund) by NSFC, etc. Now he is serving as an associate editor for Biomaterials.

AIMBE is a non-profit, honorific society of the most accomplished individuals in the fields of medical and biological engineering. AIMBE's mission is to advocate for biomedical engineering innovation through public policy initiatives. No other organization brings together academia, industry, government, and scientific societies into a highly influential community in medical and biological engineering.
