Abstract
1. In cooperation with G. Zhang, Jilin University, a nanoplasmonic surface with a Ag film deposited is designed that is optically transparent and that can be excited by visible light. Field enhancement can lead to enhanced optical or Raman spectroscopic sensing, it can also be used to heat a thermoresponsive polymer film, that then changes wetting behavior. Many different geometries like frustrums, nanobeakers, asymmetric volcanoes are realized and optimized for maximum sensitivity of detection, and results of simulations and experiments are in good agreement. In special the coupling of different plasmons is most promising, leading to different environmental sensitivity.
2. A TiO2 support excited by UV light, sonochemically treated also by visible light, ejects charge carriers, that can be converted into protons in an aqueous or polyelectrolyte environment. The resulting pH change can lead to a change in thickness and elasticity of the polymeric film. This can lead to changes in cell growth and via light this can be guided on a surface. Estimates of required sensitivities show, that this light/pH conversion can be achieved with many different solids and should also much depend on the type of polymer, that could serve as pH buffer.(E.V.Skorb, D.V.Andreeva, H.M. et al.
