On the morning of October 23, Professor Tere McGonagle-Daly, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Massey University, and Farhana Nalar, Associate Director of Global Engagement at Massey University, visited Soochow University. Wu Jiawei, Vice President of Soochow University, received the delegation at the Binglin Library Conference Room on the Dushu Lake Campus.
Wu noted that since Massey University's delegation visited Soochow University last year, both institutions have actively advanced various collaborative initiatives, yielding initial positive results. The establishment of Massey University's (China) Education and Innovation Center has further strengthened the partnership between the two universities. The signing of this memorandum marks the official launch of inter-university cooperation. Wu expressed hope that both institutions would fully utilize the platform provided by the Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District to integrate with the Industrial Park's development, fostering close collaboration in education, scientific research, and industry to jointly promote technological innovation and industrial development.
Professor McGonagle-Daly highlighted that Massey University was among the first New Zealand institutions to establish partnerships with the Chinese government, universities, and industries, achieving substantial collaborative outcomes and making significant contributions to academic exchange and talent cultivation between the two countries. He noted that both Massey and Soochow universities are comprehensive institutions with diverse academic disciplines, sharing common development goals and cooperation potential across multiple fields. He looks forward to developing broader and deeper cooperation with Soochow University through this agreement.
During the meeting, both parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation and reached consensus on advancing inter-university collaboration.
