Soochow University Medical College

Soochow University Medical College (SUMC)  possesses 6 postdoctoral programs, 6 doctoral programs of Level I discipline, 1 professional doctoral program of Level I discipline and 60 doctoral programs of Level II discipline. Meanwhile, it owns 10 master's programs of first-level discipline, 76 master's programs of second-level discipline, and 6 professional master's programs. Furthermore, the College boasts 3 state-level key disciplines and specialties, 8 state-level key clinical specialties, 2 key disciplines of the State Commission of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defense, 5 provincial preponderant disciplines. Currently, it has 281 doctoral supervisors and 1,004 master's supervisors.

As one of the first pilot colleges and universities for the Outstanding Doctor Training Plan of the Ministry of Education, SUMC offers 15 undergraduate majors including 1 national program with distinctive features, 1 brand specialty of Jiangsu Province, 3 featured specialties of Jiangsu Province and 1 key specialty. Moreover, it has 16 affiliated hospitals including 3 affiliated hospitals directly attached to the College, over 100 teaching practice sites, 18 external biological practice bases, and over 10 external pharmaceutical practice bases.

At present, SUMC has nearly 9,000 internal students, including nearly 5,100 undergraduates, 2690 postgraduates (including professional degrees), 359 doctoral students and 514 overseas students. In addition, it has nearly 10,000 students for continuing education.

Currently, the College has nearly 800 teaching and administrative staff, and 985 clinical teachers in 3 affiliated hospitals directly under the College. It has 3 academicians, 4 staff members awarded by the Recruitment Program of Global Experts for the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, 10 staff members awarded by the Young Recruitment Program of Global Experts for the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, 10 staff members awarded by the National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 7 staff members awarded by the National Natural Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, 2 distinguished professor of the "Chang Jiang Scholars Program" of the Ministry of Education, and 4 members of the Discipline Appraisal Group of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the State Council. Moreover, it has 2 innovative teams of the Ministry of Education, 1 Engineering Technology Research Center of the Ministry of Education, 3 teams introduced into the Jiangsu Innovative Team Plan, 2 Collaborative Innovation Centers in Colleges and Universities of Jiangsu Province, 1 Outstanding Science and Technology Innovative Team in Colleges and Universities of Jiangsu Province, 7 Key Laboratories Affiliated to a Province or Ministry, 1 Provincial Science and Technology Public Service Platform, and 17 City- or Department-level Key Laboratories and Public Service Platforms.

SUMC has established long-term cooperative relationships with colleges, universities, and research institutions from countries and regions such as the US, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
