The length of undergraduate program is generally 4 years (6 years for MBBS). Graduates who use Chinese as the language of instruction should reach Chinese Language Proficiency Scales / HSK Level 5 or above. Graduates who use English as the language of instruction should reach Chinese Language Proficiency Scales / HSK Level 4 or above.

I. Application requirements
1. Non-Chinese citizens who are in good health and holding valid ordinary foreign passports, and applicants under the age of 18 are required to provide guardianship certificates. Relevant regulation: http://www.moe.gov.cn/srcsite/A20/moe_850/202006/t20200609_464159.html
2. High school graduate or equivalent.
* According to Article 12 [2020] from Ministry of Education, if one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens and live abroad, the child will have foreign nationality at birth, rather than Chinese nationality. or emigrated from China. As a foreign student applicant, shall hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for 4 years or more, and records for living abroad for 2 years or more from April 30, 2018 to April 30, 2022 (the practical residence abroad for 9 months in a year can be considered as one year, subject to entry and exit stamps).
* Residents from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who apply to study as foreign students at Soochow University after immigrating and acquiring foreign nationality should comply with the above regulations.

IV. Application process
1. Login to Soochow University International Student Service System at https://suda.17gz.org or https://iaa.suda.edu.cn and fill in the required information (choose ‘self-sponsored’):
(1) The applicant shall ensure that all information is accurate.
(2) Applicants should keep the phone open and check the online registration system and E-mail regularly. University will contact the applicants based on actual needs.
2. Upload and submit the following application materials in the system:
(1) Information page of valid passport (meaning the passport expires before September 2023), all visas to China or residence permit pages (if any).
(2) Notarized high-school diploma. Prospective diploma applicant must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
(3) Academic transcripts of high-school. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English.
(4) Language Proficiency Certificate:
- To apply for majors taught in Chinese, applicants should hold the valid certificate of HSK 4 scoring 180 or above.
- To apply for majors taught in English, applicants must meet at least one of the English proficiency requirements: TOEFL score ≥80 / IELTS ≥6.0 / Native English speaker / English as the medium of instruction for master program / other valid evidence of equivalent English proficiency recognized by Soochow University.
(5) A study plan proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 500 characters or words.
(6) Health certificate within 6 months. Download the Foreigner Physical Examination Form and go to a regular local hospital to complete the examination. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.
(7) Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non- Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
(8) Other supporting documents (award certificate, paper publication, participation certificate in international conference or volunteer activity, etc.)
Reminder: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.
V. Review and Admission
Applicants shall be required to provide supplementary materials or be assessed by written test or interview. Admission results will come out through the online application system in July. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

VII. Scholarship
