“High-Level Graduate Students” Program Profile

*  The full scholarship of “High-Level Graduate Students” Program is established by Chinese Government Scholarship, which supports Chinese universities to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. This scholarship program is part of CSC-Type B.

* Applicant: Outstanding international students applying for master or doctoral degree program of Soochow University.

* Scholarship coverage: tuition, accommodation, living stipend and comprehensive medical insurance. Scholarship criteria: https://www.campuschina.org/content/details3_74776.html

* Chinese Government Scholarship universities recommend the candidates, the final admission result is subject to expert review.

* Scholarship students must attend and pass the annual review of the following year in order to be awarded with scholarship for the next year.

 

I. Application requirements 

1. Non-Chinese citizens who are in good health and holding valid ordinary foreign passports.

2. Be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master’s program

3. Be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program.   

4. No other type of scholarship was granted by Chinese government or universities at the time of application. (one-time reward exclusive)

IV. Application process 

1. Login to Soochow University International Student Service System at https://suda.17gz.org or https://iaa.suda.edu.cn and fill in the required information (financial resources choose ’CSC Scholarship’ or ‘self-sponsored’): 

(1) The applicant shall ensure that all information is accurate. 

(2) Applicants should keep the phone open and check the online registration system and E-mail regularly. University will contact the applicants based on actual needs. 

2. Upload and submit the following application materials in the system:

(1) Information page of valid passport (meaning the passport expires before September 2023), all visas to China or residence permit pages (if any).

(2) Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

(3) Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;

(4) Language Proficiency Certificate: 

- To apply for majors taught in Chinese, applicants should hold the valid certificate of HSK 5 scoring 180 or above.

- To apply for majors taught in English, applicants must meet at least one of the English proficiency requirements: TOEFL score 80 / IELTS 6.0 / Native English speaker / English as the medium of instruction for master program / other valid evidence of equivalent English proficiency recognized by Soochow University.

(5) Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted (including the title and e-mail address of professors or associate professors). These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad; 

(6) A study plan proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 1,000 characters or words; the proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor;

(7) Health certificate within 6 months. Download the Foreigner Physical Examination Form and go to a regular local hospital to complete the examination. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.

(8) Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non- Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

(9) Other supporting documents (award certificate, paper publication, participation certificate in international conference or volunteer activity, etc.)

Reminder: Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.

 

V. Review and Admission

1.  Soochow University will complete the application material review, interview and scholarship evaluation before March 15th, announce and confirm the list of candidates of this program, and issue the Pre-Admission Letter of Chinese Government Scholarship “High-Level Graduated Students” Program. 

NOTICE

(1)    Soochow University will only send a scanned copy of the Pre-admission Letter to the nominated candidates via official email (studyinsuda@suda.edu.cn).

(2)    Applicants who are not nominated as candidates for this scholarship program may continue to apply for Soochow University International Students Scholarship Program or self-sponsored programs.   

2. Please apply through Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://www.campuschina.org/) before March 20th. Select ‘Type B’ when applying, and the agency number of Soochow University is 10285. Please follow the instruction of attachment 3 and attachment 4.

3.    China Scholarship Council will organize experts to make the final evaluation on the candidates’ academic performance, comprehensive quality and development potential, and select the final scholarship recipient.

NOTICE:

Candidates who are not admitted to the Chinese Government Scholarship “High-Level Graduate Students” Program can choose to continue to apply for Soochow University International Students Scholarship Program or self-sponsored programs.
